SUMMARY:2025 Water Trial
DESCRIPTION:Our 2025 APWDC water trial will be held Aug 8-10 @ Glennifer Lake AB.\nDenyse Martin is trial chair and Christine McKinnon is the trial secretary. Our judge this year is Sarah Kahn \nThe weekend consists of three trials – Friday afternoon\, Saturday and Sunday.\nWill be offering all levels -JWD\, AWD\, WWD\, WWDx\, CWD (x) and Master levels.\nThis multi-day water trial will be held in accordance with the provisions of the current Portuguese Water Dog Club of Canada (PWDCC) water trial manual and updates\, copies of which may be downloaded here at no charge from the PWDCC website. \nLink to the Premium and Entry form*** \n***Please note that you MAY NOT fill out the entry form until the trial actually OPENS on June 23 at 12pm noon. Any entries received prior to that time will be null and void.*** \n\n\n\nConsider reserving your accommodations early; several motels are available in Innisfail** such as: \n\nJoys Inn\nDays Inn\nSuper 8\nTravel Inn\n\n**Please note that the APWDC does not endorse any one of these hotels\, they are simply ones that are dog friendly in the trial area. SUMMARY:2024 PWDCC Water Trial
DESCRIPTION:The 2024 APWDC hosted PWDCC Water Trial will once again be taking place at Glennifer Lake. We welcome Judge Lorie Crouch for the 2024 trial. These trials are being held under Portuguese Water Dog Club of Canada Rules and Regulations. \nThree – One Day Trials August 16-18\, 2024 \nTrial entries are limited to either 35 teams per day\, or the maximum time allotted as per the PWDCC Guidelines depending upon entries received. There are no limits on the number of teams in each level\, rather\, entries will be accepted until either 35 Teams or 7 hours of Judging have been reached. There will be no same day move ups unless space and time allows. \nEntries open June 20\, 12 pm and must be received via online form only (link below). Late\, and day of trial entries will be accepted space permitting by form\, with e-transfer or cash only as payment options. \n**Please note: All competitors are expected to participate in either the set up or the clean up of the trial** \nThe trial Premium and Entry form is available here but DO NOT enter until June 20\, 12pm or your entry will be rejected. \nOur 2024 Water Trial is Now Full!

She served on the Water Trial Committee for the PWDCA from 2014-2018 and from 2020-present\, currently serving as the Judge Liaison. Karen has also chaired or been Trial Secretary for numerous water trials\, including 4 PWDCA National Specialties. \n“I have had dogs all of my life and started showing and training dogs at the age of 7\, when my mom started breeding Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers. My first PWD was added to our household in 2002\, “Splash.” He taught me a lot about living with the breed – mainly that they all need a job to do – but also that they are very smart\, funny\, and versatile. I have participated in Conformation\, Obedience\, Rally\, Water\, Agility\, as well as trained for Therapy and Scentwork. \nI got “hooked” into water at the 2004 National Specialty; watching these dogs execute tasks that they were historically bred to do still thrills me! It is my honor to be able to serve as a Water Trial Judge for our club\, and I truly enjoy every minute of not only watching the dogs work in the water\, but also assisting people in their training. \nI am married to a very patient man who allows me to have fun with our dogs! We currently live with 2 PWD’s – 14 year old Ruby and 6 year old Lottie – and we have two adult children. \nI’ve been a member of the PWDCA since 2003\, and I look forward to being able to continue to work for the betterment of the breed as a whole.” \nKaren is looking forward to coming up with her little teardrop trailer for both camp and the trial on a 6-week long journey! \nClose
